We at Edgeworx would like to wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year. With 2023 behind us, we wanted to share what we've been up to and whats to come.
Recap of 2023
2023 was the year of networking, conferences, innovation, and growth. Throughout 2023 we attended various conferences, partner events, and hosted a few of our own events. Partnered with Fortinet, we started off the year at ROMA, The Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference, where we discussed cybersecurity best practices and the best ways for rural municipalities to secure and manage their IT environments. As Expert Fortinet Partners, our COO had the privilege of speaking at the 2023 Fortinet Cybersecurity Summit in Toronto.
On top of ROMA, we also attended the annual AMO and MISA and MISA InfoSec conferences, which brought new opportunities and opened up doors to new conversations. Municipalities are facing big changes from the demand for more innovative technology to the need for improved security and operational management.
Did you see us at the 2023 InfoSec Conference in Deerhurst?
In the fall we hosted our very own event with our esteemed client, The Town of Espanola. Not only is Espanola beautiful in the fall, but we had a great turn out! We talked about industry trends and the various challenges that are affecting Municipalities in the area. We discussed the strategies to handle the lack of resources, costly overhead fees, and the very real skills shortage that is limiting their ability to implement effective cybersecurity and business technology solutions.
We also hosted our very first Axe Throwing event which was such a success and very cathartic!
We closed out the year at the annual Bell Network and Leadership Conference in Halifax alongside Fortinet and Arista Networks. Where we discussed industry trends and what's next for 2024.
What's in Store for 2024
2024 is going to be a year of innovation and transformation. From increased use of AI across industries, and the need and demand for more business technology, all industries will be pushed towards digital transformation at a speed unlike before. Managing and securing attack vectors will become increasingly challenging and costly with the rapid growth of cyber attacks.
Artificial Intelligence
AI will play a crucial role in cybersecurity as both an aid and a potential threat. AI will play a crucial role in cybersecurity through threat detection and response. Improved machine learning algorithms will develop and become more sophisticated, enabling quicker identification of potential security breaches. With the increased use of AI, comes increased concerns around privacy. Leading to discussions about responsible AI practices and the need for transparent and ethical oversight.
5G Technology and Improved Connectivity
With the rapid adoption of 5G technology, industries will see faster and more reliable connectivity. This is will have implications on IoT devices, smart cities, and customer service. Organization will have to provide faster and more secure services. Further, with the continued WFH set up, organizations will have to turn their focus to securing mobile devices and networks against emerging threats. With improved connectivity comes with increased attack vectors and the need to secure more endpoints across the organization.
Zero Trust Architecture
With improved connectivity, more and more organizations will begin requiring continuous authentication as a way to enhance their cybersecurity postures. With the adaptability of remote and hybrid work, Zero Trust will be crucial in order for organizations to secure work environments and manage identities.
2024 will come with growth and development and its own set of challenges as we continue to navigate the ever changing digital landscape. Arming yourself and your organization with the knowledge and tools is the best strategy to secure your organization, and hint, it doesn't have to be costly!
